How furniture donation can support a new home
A suitable table, bed frame or set of kitchenware can help someone equip a home when they need those things.

A suitable table, bed frame or set of kitchenware can help someone equip a home when they need those things. Usefulness depends on the recipient’s circumstances: dimensions, completeness and delivery arrangements are important. Donation should respond to a real need, not merely move unwanted goods somewhere else.
Plan the details
Ask about acceptance and logistics before committing. A recipient may not have storage, transport or capacity to repair damaged furniture. Rehomeo seeks suitable recipients or donation channels where arrangements allow, but has no confirmed charity partnership or guaranteed donation outcome. Customers pay for clearance and collection unless an alternative is expressly agreed.
A practical example
A family setting up a home may need a compact table but have no space for a large cabinet. Matching the need is more helpful than delivering every available object. Ask about acceptance, then agree the practical handover. Rehomeo does not use stock images or assumed recipient stories as proof that donations have occurred.
Discuss the full arrangement rather than only the object. Does the recipient have space now, can the furniture be assembled, and who can receive it at the agreed time? These questions matter especially for large pieces. Avoid claiming that a particular organisation or person will accept an item unless this has been confirmed. If the intended donation cannot happen, a different route should be discussed transparently rather than hidden behind the word “charity”.
Your checklist
- Match the item to an actual need.
- Confirm acceptance before delivery.
- Check completeness and dimensions.
- Agree who handles transport.
- Avoid promising a particular beneficiary.
Sources and limitations
Longer use can reduce waste and demand for replacement products. The outcome depends on condition, transport, storage and actual reuse. We do not calculate or promise carbon savings. The environmental context is general, not a measurement of this service. FOEN explains that the whole life cycle must be considered when assessing outcomes. No per-item or collection-level savings are claimed here. BAFU / FOEN / OFEV / UFAM.
Before agreeing collection
Customers pay for collection and clearance unless another arrangement is explicitly agreed. A possible donation does not make transport free. An enquiry starts a conversation. It does not reserve a collection. How it works.
